Speaking up for local businesses

As the county’s premier independent voice for business, our regular contact with Members of Parliament, Members of the European Parliament, local authorities, civil servants and policy makers ensures that the concerns of our Members are both heard and understood.
We have the knowledge, the expertise and the credibility to engage with and champion the key issues affecting businesses across the county and the wider region.
Making your voice heard
We are continuously and actively involved in many local partnerships, committees and with local authorities to promote and protect the interests of the county’s business. We are also regularly consulted on policy by local authorities and government departments.
Essex Chambers is represented on a number of key policy making bodies including:
South East Local Enterprise Partnership
Greater Essex Business Board
Haven Gateway Partnership
The Growth Partnership
Chelmsford Business Board
Southend Business Partnership
Thurrock Business Board
We are also represented on the British Chambers of Commerce’ Strategic Policy Group, enabling us to feed into national policy development within the Chambers’ movement.
Essex Business Transport and Infrastructure Forum
Our EBTIF meets quarterly at Westminster, bringing together Chamber Members and Essex MPs to discuss key issues affecting the county’s infrastructure, such as the development of aviation, the road and rail networks, the ports and broadband connectivity. Most meetings are attended by the relevant Government Minister and senior civil servants who can hear first-hand exactly what businesses think.
International Trade Forum
Similar to EBTIF, the International Trade Forum brings together exporters from across Essex to meet with our Members of Parliament, civil servants and trade attach├ęs to discuss the opportunities for exporting and more importantly to understand and break down some of the barriers that prevent companies accessing new overseas markets.
