Members are invited to join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
This years AGM will be held at Sandon Valley House, the Headquarter offices of Essex & Suffolk Water, by the Hanningfield Reservoir. We will be joined by Heidi Motram, Chief Executive Officer of Essex & Suffolk Water.
Registration opens at 4.00pm before the AGM commences at 4.15pm - the AGM agenda can be found in the Notice of Meeting HERE.
Due to the nature of this event, it is only open to Members of Essex Chambers of Commerce.
Once the official AGM segment is completed, you will have the opportunity to hear from Heidi Mottram, who will be highlighting key points from the organisation’s new business plan for 2025-30, which includes over £6bn of investment, the largest amount since privatisation.
The business plan is based on feedback received from customers and stakeholders, as well outlining how the company plans to exceed the expectations of regulators, alongside the proposed levels of investment to maintain and enhance services. It also includes making sure Essex & Suffolk Water are ready to rise to this challenge by enhancing their teams and recruiting talented experts to support them as they deliver on their promises.
This is all presented against the challenges facing the water industry on a national level, including climate change, increasing populations, and all other factors impacting on water demand and more importantly, supply.

Heidi Motram has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Northumbrian Water Group Limited and Northumbrian Water Limited since 2010. This follows on from an excellent track record in the rail industry where her career began with British Rail in the mid-1980s. She progressed through a variety of senior leadership roles in train operators, with her last position being Managing Director of Northern Rail, the largest train operator in the UK.
She was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list 2010 for services to the rail industry and a CBE in the Birthday Honours list 2018 for services to the water industry and business community.
Mrs Mottram is currently a Board Member of Centrica, WaterAid and Vice-Chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
Under her leadership NWG achieved the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of Sustainable Development in 2014 and has been the only water company to be listed on the World’s Most Ethical companies list twelve times. Northumbrian Water has twice been named the UK’s Utility Company of the Year whilst Heidi has been Chief Executive. The Company was also named as Water Company of the Year in 2018 and 2020 as well as being awarded the British Quality Foundation’s UK Excellence Award 2018, one of the highest accolades any business can achieve.
