The Essex Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) team is pleased to announce the publication of its latest Progress Report, detailing important advancements in aligning local education provision with the skills needs of employers across the region.
This updated report marks a significant milestone in Essex’s journey to address regional skills challenges and support economic growth. Developed by the Essex Local Skills Improvement Plan Board – an Employer Representative Body (ERB) – in collaboration with businesses, colleges, training providers, and key local stakeholders, the report outlines tangible progress made over the past year in response to priorities identified in the original LSIP.
“It’s a pleasure to introduce this latest progress report, which clearly shows the strength of our business-led approach and the positive impact being delivered across Essex. From the Festival of Business that focussed on Skills, to new college facilities funded through LSIF, the work continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the support of our employers and partners.”
The Essex LSIP has already contributed to improving employer engagement, enhancing curriculum relevance, and supporting the growth of key sectors such as health and social care, construction, and digital technologies.
“We congratulate every ERB and their partners for their leadership and commitment to delivering these progress reports. This key work is helping to ensure that learners and businesses across England have the skills they need to thrive.”
“I am pleased to see the progress being made to bring these Local Skills Improvement Plans to life.
“We remain committed to the LSIP model as part of our Plan for Change, and have strengthened the role that Mayors and Strategic Authorities will play in identifying and addressing the local skills issues in the plans.
“Skills England will work hand-in-hand with businesses, education providers, Mayors and Strategic Authorities, unions, and other bodies to tackle skills shortages, co-creating solutions to ensure more opportunities for young people and existing workers wherever they are based in the country.”
