Each of the Trade Expert Training Academy courses can be taken individually and you can customise your learning by doing as many or as few as you need.

Course Topics

Course 1: International Trade & Research

This course aims to develop knowledge on two topics - 1: The history and evolution of international trade. 2: Research activities that provide an understanding of international trade theory.

Course 2: International Supply Chain

This course aims to develop an understanding of supply chain management in international trade. This includes defining supply chain management, the relationship between supply chain and logistics, effective supply chain planning and responding to problems and issues associated with international trade.

Course 3: Creating an International Strategy

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding as to how an organisation develops an international trade strategy. It includes establishing export goals, undertaking research into potential markets, developing an international pricing strategy, investigating shipping and logistics, marketing and promotion, documentation, distribution and review and monitoring.

Course 4: Exporting & Procedures

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the exporting process used in international trade from novice to practitioner. It will cover four key modules, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to navigate the export process including documentation, incoterms, responsibilities of an exporter, commodity codes, origin and duties and taxes.

Course 5: Importing & Procedures

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the import process for both novice and experienced importers. The workshop will cover four key modules, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to navigate the import process with confidence: covering all areas of Import Documentation, Responsibilities, Customs, valuation, Incoterms and Commodity codes.

Course 6: Finding International Markets using social media & AI

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of research including social media and AI to find opportunities in global trade.

Course 7: Import & Export Customs Diagnostics - Creating a procedure manual

This course aims to develop knowledge and practical skills in Import & Export Customs Diagnostics, enabling the learner to create a procedural manual to complete international trade operations.

Course 8: Importance of International Documentation & Logistics

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of customs documentation giving you an understanding what will be required in the import or export of goods or services. the role of logistics including an understanding of air, sea, road and rail freight and courier services. It will also explore the advantages and disadvantages of using the different modes of transport in the world of international trade.

Course 9: International Customs, Warehousing and Special Procedures & AEO

This course covers three topics and aims to develop knowledge and understanding of: 1: Customs Procedures associated with international trade, including trade agreements, tariffs and taxes, clearance procedures, transport regulations, customs valuation, preference systems and anti-dumping measures. 2: Customs Warehousing in the export and in import of goods, including the use of duty deferral, temporary storage, the processing of merchandise, bonded stock, consolidation and special processes and services. 3: Authorised Economic Operator and the advantages of the status, trusted traders, and the process of securing the authorised economic operator status.

Course 10: Sustainability in supply chain

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the impact of freight movement on the environment and the opportunities available to organisations to use sustainable options.

International Trade Qualification Level 4 – How does it work?

After each courses and passing a multiple choice questionnaire, you will receive a completion certificate and the credits associated with the courses. All credits awarded can go towards your Level 4 Certification.

There are three forms of International Trade Qualification Level 4:

    • Level 4 Award: A minimum of 12 courses credits* are required.
    • Level 4 Certification: A minimum of 13 courses credits* and one assessment, from a choice of 6, are required.
    • Level 4 Diploma: Complete all courses and 3 assessments, from a choice of 6.

*For the Level 4 Award or Certification, only ONE of the following courses can be included: Course 4: Exporting & Procedures or Course 5: Importing & Procedures.
