Customs Special Procedures focusing on IP & OP

Essex Chambers of Commerce, 34a Star Lane, Great Wakering, Essex. SS3 0FF

Wednesday 4th May 2022
9:30am - 4:30pm
This premium training course will deliver a comprehensive insight into Customs Special Procedures, which  have become even more important since leaving  the EU.

You will receive an in-depth review of
all the Customs Special Procedures and understand how these procedures may save you money and focus on Inward and Outward Processing.

Inward Processing Authorisation (IP), you could benefit from duty/VAT being suspended on imports, which are to be processed in GB before being put to an eligible disposal such as re-export.  Alternatively IP goods can be later declared to free circulation, at the rate of the processed goods or imported goods.

With Outward Processing (OP) we shall explain how you are allowed to claim relief from customs duty on the goods which have been exported for process, as long as you can show that the exported goods were used to produce, or are incorporated into, the products you are importing. OP can also be used for goods exported for overseas repair.

Managing a Customs Special Procedure can be a heavy administration burden; let us lighten that burden by considering ways to improve your procedures and look at the roles of processing in order to identify if you could trade more competitively.  Compliance is key, let us help you understand the conditions and restrictions. Topics covered include:

  • Inward Processing (IP) – how to manage temporary imports under IP
  • Outward Processing (OP) – how to do a temporary export and re-import under OP
