Essex Chambers – A message from our CEO

Dear Member,

I am writing to update you on what we are doing to support you as a Chamber member during this period of great uncertainty for us all. 

Firstly, I hope that neither you nor any members of your family or workforce have been afflicted with this horrible virus. Some of the measures we are all having to take seem extreme but are necessary if we are collectively to beat this and come out the other side ready to face normality again. 

Like many of you, as a business we have had to take some difficult decisions. Our staff are now working from home.  Key contacts are myself, our Director of Policy, David Burch; our Head of International Trade, Jane Rose and our International Trade team whilst this crisis continues. 

Our Colchester Basildon and Southend offices will remain closed until further notice.

There is a lot of accurate news and speculation being put out in our newspapers, on TV and radio and on the likes of Facebook and Twitter. Some is helpful but much is potentially confusing so we will only be issuing updates to you when we have new information to convey. You can find our updates here.

We want to assure you that we are working in the background and in regular contact with the British Chambers of Commerce, Essex Police,  local councils, the South East LEP and our MP’s to exchange information and updates. 

If you have any issues with the current regulations that businesses have to work under, are unsure about some of the financial support announced by the Government or wish to make any other points please feel free to get in touch with us and we will be happy to pursue them for you.  Contact details are below.

Our International Trade services are running normally, but you may experience a slight delay. We are updating our exporters and customers regularly with key updates related to International Trade which you can find here.

Like you we look forward to normal service being resumed as soon as possible but in the meantime please keep safe, self-distance when necessary and together we will get through this. Our contact details are:-
