Get ready for Customs Declarations

Importers and exporters will need to complete customs declarations next year, regardless of whether the UK strikes a free trade deal with the EU.

To complete declarations, the government has asked businesses to ensure they:

1. Have a GB economic Operator Registration and Identification number (EORI number)
2. Decide if they will use a customs intermediary
Have access to the relevant IT systems to complete declarations themselves
3. Know the customs value and commodity code for their goods
4. Consider simplifications and facilitations such as customs freight simplified procedures (CFSPs), warehousing, inward processing, and

You can apply for a grant to get funding for recruitment, training and IT improvements if your business completes, or will need to complete, customs declarations.

You can apply for:

  1. training that helps your business to complete customs declarations and processes
  2. hiring new staff to help your business complete customs declarations
  3. IT improvements to help your business complete customs declarations more efficiently

The government is continuing to provide funding for companies to learn how to complete declarations, which can be used to cover the full cost of most of our Export Expert Training Courses and the BCC Foundation Award.
