Funding Opportunity: Growth Catalyst Early Stage – New Innovators

Innovate UK is offering a share of £10 million to UK-registered micro and small businesses through the Growth Catalyst Early Stage: New Innovators competition. This is aimed at businesses that have not previously received Innovate UK funding and are developing affordable, adoptable, and investable solutions in one or more of the UK’s five critical technologies.

Grants of £25,000 to £50,000 are available, with 70% of the funding paid upfront. Projects must last between 3 to 6 months, starting by 1 November 2025 and ending by 30 April 2026. Successful applicants will also receive tailored business support from Innovate UK Business Growth.

The five critical technologies are:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) – including trusted and responsible AI tools and applications.
• Semiconductors – innovations in design, materials, or manufacturing.
• Future Telecommunications and Advanced Connectivity – such as photonics, open networks, and quantum-safe communications.
• Quantum Technologies – including scalable quantum computing and applied quantum systems.
• Engineering Biology – covering synthetic biology, bioengineering tools, and sustainable biomanufacturing.
