As the only accredited Chambers of Commerce in Essex, we are incredibly proud of the business community we have built. Our role goes beyond support – we create exclusive opportunities to spotlight outstanding organisations through our engaging events. A prime example of this was the recent networking tour we hosted with our Patrons, Ziegler UK Ltd.
Attendees were warmly welcomed into Ziegler UK’s bright, modern premises, located on the DP World Logistics Park. They enjoyed delicious food & great networking opportunities in the organisation’s purpose built breakout space, whilst learning more about the background of the company from Managing Director, Lee Marshall.
Lee gave an engaging talk that explored the company’s rich history and recent developments.
Ziegler is part of the Ziegler Group, a family-owned business founded 116 years ago in Switzerland, now headquartered in Belgium. With branches all around the world, Lee and his colleagues started the UK base in 2009. They started with nothing, but 16 years later they have established themselves as a competitive global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions and now have 14 additional branches in the UK.
Since moving into their new premises just a year ago, Ziegler UK has designed a workspace focused on both functionality and employee wellbeing. Their custom-built breakout area isn’t just for downtime—it hosts regular pool tournaments and social gatherings, building team spirit and community.
Guests at our event were able to experience this vibrant space firsthand before heading out on the warehouse tour.
The behind-the-scenes tour of the warehouse enabled our Members to experience the incredible scale of Ziegler’s operation. As architects of transport and logistics, Ziegler have a worldwide network to move goods easily and reliably.
A highlight of the tour was seeing the company’s newest “team member”, Ziggy. Ziggy is a stock taking robot, capable of scanning every item in the warehouse every evening. Providing the team and customers with precise stock takes daily.
During the event and Lee’s talk, attendees were also able to watch videos, explaining Ziegler’s operation. These videos were produced by our Members Main Media Ltd. The creation of this visual content came from connections made through the Chambers. It’s always very rewarding when our members come together to collaborate on projects.
