Dear Denise,

Re: Support for businesses in Colchester

I trust you and all at Essex Chambers of Commerce are well. I am writing to ask you to kindly share with your members and the wider business community in Colchester that my team and I are here to help with any issues, concerns or questions they may have.

I understand the frustrations and concerns of businesses locally and know that this will be a particularly challenging month and Winter ahead for many in Colchester.

In recognition of the challenges that businesses face, the Government has introduced further support to help them get through the coming weeks and months. We have announced an extension to the furlough scheme until the end of March, and extended support for the self-employed through the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme. We have introduced grants for businesses forced to close worth up to £3,000 per month, and as with the previous grants scheme local authorities will help distribute them in line with eligibility criteria. Moreover, we have extended the deadlines for the Bounce Back Loans and all other government-backed loans until the end of January 2021, while firms can top-up existing Bounce Back Loans should they need additional finance.

Businesses will be able to find the full amount of support available to them by visiting the GOV.UK website: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus/business-support?priority-

In addition, I want businesses to know that I want to help them in any way I can, and I would be grateful if you would kindly share with your members and the wider business community in Colchester my very best wishes during this difficult time and remind them that my team and I stand ready to help assist with any issues, concerns or questions they may have.

Yours sincerely,
