Rochford District Council has commissioned Essex Chambers of Commerce to produce a series of ‘bitesize’ videos to help the business community prepare for the end of the UK transition period.
We are no longer in the European Union, and on the 31st December 2020 the transition period will end, so these videos will help to ensure local businesses know what this means for them.
The videos, which can be found on the Rochford District Council You Tube channel, will be issued over the course of the next few days.
They focus on four key themes:
– Do you buy goods from or sell goods to the EU?
– What are the key dates and stages I should know about?
– What can I do now to be prepared to continue trading with the EU?
– What resources and support are out there to help you “Get Ready?”
Jane Rose, Head of International Trade at the Essex Chambers of Commerce, who features in the videos, said: “If you buy goods from or sell goods to the EU – and you have not yet made any preparations for the change in January, these bitesize videos will provide you with the key information that you need to know.”
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning, Cllr Ian Ward, said: “There is no doubt that this year has been incredibly tough for all local businesses, whether on our high streets or on industrial estates and as a council we are doing all we can to help provide advice and support, including on matters which stretch beyond the immediacy of the pandemic.
“This has included the commissioning of Essex Chambers of Commerce, who are well versed in import/export laws, to produce a series of videos to assist the business community as we near the end of the UK Brexit transition period on December 31st 2020. These videos will provide our local businesses with the key information they need to know, and ensure they are well prepared to take up the challenge facing all commercial enterprises, as we enter a totally new trading environment."
