January 28, 2020
The British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) has had talks with the Department for International Trade (DIT) regarding the UK exiting the EU on the 31st January 2020. At present DIT have advised that Issuing Bodies should continue to issue EC Certificates of Origin during the transition period ending 31st December 2020. Therefore, unless advised otherwise we will not start to issue the new UK Certificates of Origin until 1st January 2021.
HMRC have advised that during the transition period, preference documents (EUR1’s & ATR's) will continue to be issued and both the UK government and the EU have said they should be accepted by third countries with which the EU has trade agreements.
If you experience any problems with countries refusing to accept the documents please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
