Successful launch of Essex Chambers of Commerce Harlow Horizons
September 21, 2017
Last week, Essex Chambers of Commerce held their first Harlow Horizons Networking Event which was very popular with local businesses with over 50 people in attendance. The presentations by Paul Willis, Stansted Airport Transformation Project Director and Christian Brodie, Chairman, South East Local Enterprise Partnership were extremely interesting and prompted lots of questions from the audience on the future plans for Stansted Airport and the Strategic Economic Plan which details potential areas of growth and opportunities for businesses in the South East.
Christian Brodie, Chairman, South East Local Enterprise Partnership said, “I would like to thank Essex Chambers of Commerce for the opportunity to speak to local businesses about the Strategic Economic Plan which sets out the potential areas of growth and opportunities in the South East for businesses and further explain its objectives, in terms of creating a collective message which can then be put to government to support businesses. The development of Stansted Airport and the work that Essex Chambers of Commerce does is very important as it enables us to engage the LEPs strategy with Stansted’s growth plans and ensure businesses future aspirations and needs are very much at the centre of discussions that challenge productivity, innovation, connectivity and generating the right skills in the right places”.
Paul Willis, Stansted Airport Transformation Project Director said, “With Stansted Airport having the position as the UK’s fastest growing airport and largest single site employer in the East of England contributing £1 billion annually to the UK economy, it is important to speak to local businesses to learn how the growth is impacting them. Our aspirations to grow the number of airlines using the airport and to develop new routes east and west thereby providing businesses with vital links to international markets is not only important to us but important to local businesses too. We welcome the views of businesses on the airport’s vision to make full use of Stansted’s runway in the most sustainable and responsible way, thereby maximizing the benefits for everyone.”
