Orsett Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa. Prince Charles Ave, Orsett, Grays RM16 3HS

Thursday 20th February 2020
9:00am - 12:30pm

Many organisations use data on staff and customers as part of doing business. However, many myths exist around what rules are in place on how to look after that data, one of the biggest being that Data Protection rules will stop applying when the UK in January 2021. Not true! Data Protection is very much here to stay so don’t get caught out by the coming changes (especially with potential fines for getting Data Protection wrong being up to 4% of your global annual turnover).

In this session we will go through the Data Protection basics, cover what is happening with the UK after the transition period, and give an update on what the UK Government is doing around marketing rules and things like cookies. At the end of the session you will;

  • Have an awareness of how Data Protection will work after the transition period
  • Have an awareness of what the basic rules on personal data are
  • Have an awareness of how to maximise the data you use
  • Have an awareness of what the rules are around marketing and how they are potentially going to change in January 2021
  • Know where to find additional information and resources
