It is clear that skills gaps suffered by employers are a major blocker to economic growth both locally and nationally. The LSIP programme that Essex Chambers of Commerce has been leading is already producing tangible outcomes which will allow local providers to focus on key Skills Priorities in the county. At the latest Professional Services Roundtable event hosted at First Intuition in Chelmsford Jo gave a highly articulate overview of progress made so far by the Essex LSIP team, and then expertly chaired a fascinating discussion where employers, providers and other stakeholders shared insights into the skills gaps they have been experiencing.

I have been a member of the Essex Chambers of Commerce for 2 years and love the fact I have met an array of like minded people in business while attending various networking, training events and 1:1 meetings with services providers. ECC has provided me a platform to act as a training partner introducing International Standards for members and beyond.

Being active and supporting our local business community is very important to Birkett Long, and being a member of Essex Chambers plays a large part in that. They have facilitated relationships between us and other organisations regularly over the years and remain a crucial business partner.

The highly organised networking events and exhibitions enable us to dip in and out of what’s going on around the county.  It’s invaluable as a ‘sounding board’ for what is affecting other local businesses and the practical business support is useful and welcome.

We are one of the largest employers in Tendring, and we want to build our relationship within the local community alongside our social impact committee that organises outreach programmes.
