This 2 hour event 9am - 11am is designed for business who do not have a formal Health & Safety position on the team, this course explains the key areas of risk within most businesses, and points out the hazards and measures to be taken for control of risk. The course allows business owner/operators to understand what the law requires and how it deals with small businesses.
We will explain the risk assessment process including the identification of initial risk factors and residual risk factors, and how calculations (although not compulsory) may be used to enhance your understanding and observation of priorities, and also defines and explains the Hierarchy of Control. We will explore the common failures of risk assessments, and addresses the four ingredients to be considered within risk assessments, people, equipment, materials and the environment. Key hazards are discussed and risk assessment processes are explored including demonstrating the initial and residual risk factors.
Our online Small Business Health & Safety training course will be highlighted:This advanced Health & Safety management course provides an understanding of the Risk Assessment process following the HSE's guide '5 Steps to Risk Assessment'. The course delves into the meaning behind the thinking of 'reasonably practicable' and looks at how the term 'reasonable man' is defined, exploring the significant differences in law and foreseeability. It looks at what is the Duty of Care, and who does it extend to? Case law is used to explain principles such as an employer's duty of care cannot be delegated, individual duty of care and personal liability (criminal). The course also discusses vicarious liability; which sections of the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 are used to prosecute individuals, and explores in detail the powers of the enforcing authorities.The course looks at accident management, communication and health and safety culture and identifies vulnerabilities and disability and how they should be incorporated into the risk assessment process.
